Short version: you do not need an account, the puzzles you make never leave your device unless you share them yourself, and we never see the words you type. We use Google Analytics to count visits and actions.

What stays in your browser

The site uses your browser’s local storage to remember your current draft, the puzzles you save under My puzzles, the words you found in puzzles you played, and your daily streak. This data is stored only on your device. You can delete it at any time from My puzzles or by clearing site data in your browser settings.

Share links

An interactive link contains the entire puzzle after the # symbol. Browsers do not send that part of a link to web servers, so we do not receive the puzzles you share. Anyone who has the link can open the puzzle, so treat it like any other public link.

What our hosting provider sees

The site is delivered through Cloudflare’s network. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as IP address, browser type and requested page in order to deliver pages and protect the service. We do not combine this with any other information about you.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, and anonymous counts of actions such as downloading an image, choosing a template, copying a share link or finding a word. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell visits apart and processes technical data such as your approximate location and device type. Google’s own policy explains how it uses this data.

We never send analytics the words, titles or meanings you type, or the contents of a shared puzzle. Ready-made ideas are reported by their name; puzzles you write yourself are reported only by settings such as template and size. We do not run advertising trackers. You can opt out with your browser’s tracking protection or Google’s opt-out add-on.

Sharing buttons and external links

Share buttons and QR codes are generated on your device and contact a social network only after you press one. Links to other sites, including our sister tools, are governed by those sites’ own policies.

Children

The site collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Teachers and parents can use it without creating accounts for students.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
